Forensic Breakthrough
Brian Dalrymple of forensic identification
services is the first receipient of the Foster Award presented
by the Canadian Identification Society.
Mr.Dalrymple took the honour for modifying
photographic procedures on the GHQ laser beam machine to produce
a clearer recording of fingerprints on evidence.
Because of his development of narrow-band
pass filters, much or all of the light interference involved
in using the laser is eliminated.
The award was presented to Brian, who has
been a member of the society since 1978, following the submission
of is report on the subject by head of forensic identification,
Bud Hinds.

issue of the Journal of Forensic Sciences.
